The Diploma in Permaculture Design New Zealand is the next education step after completing a PDC and provides the opportunity for you to contribute to the growing permaculture knowledge base.
Undertaking a Diploma project will improve your skills as a designer, test existing beliefs and assumptions, reveal better ways of undertaking and implementing permaculture systems, and discover new opportunities or innovative solutions. Your Diploma project can be applied to all areas of permaculture as illustrated in the Holgrem Flower below. Your project can be based around areas that you are passionate about.

Diploma Basics
The Diploma in Permaculture Design is an advanced research based qualification formally recognised by Permaculture in New Zealand (PiNZ) of the work and activities of permaculture people in Aotearoa/New Zealand and associated or shared work and activities in other lands that contribute to the permaculture knowledge base in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
It is a two-year project demonstrating the application of permaculture knowledge to a specific context with the aim of researching a topic, testing an assumption, or designing an innovative solution to an existing scenario.
You will be supported by a mentor and will document your process and outcomes with the final project to be submitted for approval/acceptance as complete, and you will then be invited to present your work at the annual National Permaculture Hui where you will be formally recognised and presented with your Diploma.
