Urban Permaculture weekends

Learn all about permaculture design on a small scale that allows you to integrate all the timesaving, low maintenance, water saving, waste reducing and cycling practices you want to do, but don’t know how to scale down. You’ll spend less time maintaining the garden, and more time harvesting and enjoying it. The two weekends together are like taking a mini permaculture design certificate (pdc)

Weekend 1

• Ethics, principles, and vision
• Element analysis, multiple functions and relative location in design
• Low maintenance structures
• Small space structures
• Improving soils
• Recycling waste in the garden
• Renewables and appropriate technology

Practical Projects to choose from: making a chook tractor, lasagna bed building, herb spiral building

2 x 2 day weekend courses –Cost $200 per person per weekend or $300 for two people learning together per weekend. (Total costs of 2 weekends - $400 for one person or $600 for 2). You can book for both weekends or just one.

Detailed handouts are prepared for each part of the course and there is time to talk about your property, look at specifics you want to put into your design and help you to get the design you want - whether it’s for your own property or you just want to experiment on paper with your learning over the weekend.

Practical and theory sessions based on an organic 4ha permaculture property in Whiteman's Valley, Upper Hut which is almost completely self-sufficient.

To book a place on the course, contact: Dee Turner: 0211252035 or derinatur@hotmail.com. Carolann Murray will be teaching the Upper Hut course. She has written the New Zealand guide to self-sufficiency, and has been teaching permaculture in New Zealand for 15 years.
