
Propagating Food Forest Plants
Learn to propagate productive plants for your garden and food forest, and take them home. Propagate using a variety of methods:
Hardwood cuttings
Semi-hardwood cuttings
Root cuttings
Stolons
Layering
Seeds - scarification and stratification
A mix of theory and practical propagation where the workshop participants get their hands dirty and propagate a number of productive plants such as:
Russian clumping comfrey
Rhubarb
Fig
Elderberry
Chilean guava
Pineapple sage
Mints/herbs
Groundcovers/alpine strawberries
Lemon verbena
Participants will then be able to propagate their own material at home, as well as go home with 20+ propagated plants during the workshop
Course runs from 9.00am - 12.30pm in Westown, New Plymouth where you can see all the plants growing and how they are used in a food forest. Morning tea is provided.
Cost $50 per person. Limited to 12 people per workshop. Experienced permaculture teacher and horticulturalist. No previous experience necessary.
