Practical Fruit Tree Pruning 3- Apples & Pears

Bioregion:
Bay of Plenty

Tutor - Gisella Warmenhoven

Learn how to prune fruit trees for abundant crops on healthy, long-living trees in this series of three practical workshops. Feel free to attend any or all three  workshops.

Late fall and winter are the best times to prune apples and pears. This third workshop will start with an introduction to pruning as it applies to all fruit trees, and apples in specific. This will be followed by a demonstration and then it’s your turn to start pruning with Gisella’s guidance. You’ll then be able to go home and confidently get started on your own apple and pear trees.

Gisella Warmenhoven is a trained landscaper and professional tree pruner for over 30 years.  “Gisella’s one day workshop is one of the best ways to be introduced to fruit tree pruning. She is an excellent presenter and a patient teacher. You’ll enjoy the day and leave it with the confidence to get started pruning your own fruit trees.”

What to bring: Please bring sharpened secateurs, loppers, a saw and stepladder if you have them. Gloves, writing materials, snacks and drinking water.
