This one-day workshop will introduce you to Permaculture Design in a practical way. It will give you a taste of Permaculture which you can follow up with a full Permaculture Design Certificate course later should you wish.
The workshop kicks off by introducing the ethics and design principles of Permaculture. Once the design processes is outlined you will split into small groups and under the guidance of a qualified Permaculture designer you will work on developing a design of your own. If you dont have anything in mind you can help someone else develop their idea.
You will be guided through exploring goals and objectives, identifying zones and sectors, micro-climates, and so on, to arrive at a draft design. Along the way you will be exposed to the different design aspects of water management, energy storage, sustainability and resilience, food forest design, and more.
The outdoor practical activities will include an overview of soil composition, compost, perennial and annual crop planning, seed sowing and transplanting, the importance of crop rotation, cover crops, inter-cropping, and companion planting.
This is a practical workshop with and a mix of mini-lectures, classroom activities and outdoor exercises.
