Permaculture in a Nutshell

A weekend that teaches you the basics of permaculture - putting together a basic plan that incorporates sectors and zones, a food forest and shelter and fedges.  You’ll spend less time maintaining the garden, and more time harvesting and enjoying it

• Food forests, fedges and shelter
• Plant guilds and companion planting
• Fruit tree/ bush training systems and pruning
• Water in the landscape
• Climates, microclimates and subtropicals
• Sector analysis
• Zoning in the garden
• Putting together elements of a design

Cost $200 per person per weekend or $300 for two people learning together per weekend.

Detailed handouts are prepared for each part of the course and there is time to talk about your property, look at specifics you want to put into your design and help you to get the design you want - whether it’s for your own property or you just want to experiment on paper with your learning over the weekend.

Practical and theory sessions based on an organic 4ha permaculture property in Whiteman's Valley, Upper Hut which is almost completely self-sufficient.

To book a place on the course, contact: Dee Turner: 0211252035 or Carolann Murray will be teaching the Upper Hut course. She has written the New Zealand guide to self-sufficiency, and has been teaching permaculture in New Zealand for 15 years.
