Matakana Modular Permaculture Design Certificate Course 2021


Join experienced teachers, Trish Allen and Guenther Andraschko for the internationally recognised modular PDC course plus additional optional hands-on permaculture workshops which takes place over 8 months with 13 full days of course time – 10 Saturdays + 3 Sundays from March to September 2021.

The course content covers the following topics:
- Permaculture ethics, principles and design
- Sustainable living systems for a wide variety of landscapes and climates
- Site analysis and building climate resilience
- Large- and small-scale permaculture design - urban and rural
- Ecological building & design
- Soil & ecosystem health
- Water management & harvesting
- Renewable energy systems & Appropriate technology
- Food forests
- Organic garden design
- Forestry
- Integrating animals
- Social structures and economics

Additional hands-on practical permaculture workshops are offered of which 3 are included in the course fee.
Optional practical workshops include earth-building and appropriate technology, fruit tree pruning and grafting, organic gardening, preserving & fermentation, water harvesting & management, Deep Ecology, mushroom log preparation, composting and much more!

If not attending full certified PDC, individual Sunday practical workshop sessions can be attended @ $110 each or $90 each if attending 3 or more (payable in advance). Anyone is welcome to attend.

Trish and Guenther will host students at various locations around Matakana as well as at Rainbow Valley Farm. The course also includes inspiring field visits to permaculture sites in the area.

Course costs:
$1495 (paid prior to course starting) or $1795 payment plan ($595 deposit + 3 payments of $400). Modules for Saturday sessions can be attended @ $185 each.

About the tutors:
Trish Allen is a Permaculture NZ affiliated teacher. She has over 30 years’ experience as a permaculture practitioner including establishing the award-winning Rainbow Valley Farm with her late husband Joe Polaischer. The farm demonstrated permaculture in action and inspired thousands. Trish has now moved on and established a village-scale model of permaculture and shares her knowledge by teaching permaculture-related courses and workshops.

Guenther Andraschko is a Permaculture NZ affiliated teacher. He is an experienced workshop facilitator, earth builder, permaculture and landscape designer. With over 25 years’ experience in designing and creating unique outdoor environments utilising permaculture principles, Guenther brings a wealth of practical knowledge and experience and enjoys supporting other to realise their own permaculture projects and aspirations.
