Te Ao Hou Marae is the main hui event site.

Marae Wharenui or camping/campervan park up onsite.
The whare can host 60 people Marae style. Tent sites next to the marae at road edge and along lower terrace near the river for $10 per person per night. Children will not have to pay for accommodation; unless over 12 and is using their own tent.

Whanganui River Top 10 Holiday Park is just down the road from the marae (650m). Lots of accommodation options including a bunkhouse that sleeps more than 20 people and is $10 per person with a minimum of $260 per night.

Whanganui is a Freedom Camping friendly city. You may pitch a tent or park up and sleep in any public place.

Travel

Getting to Whanganui is fairly easy...

Travel Times by car 

Auckland - 6 hrs, 462 km via SH 4

Wellington - 2 hrs 30, 193 km - State Highway 1 onto State Highway 3

Taupo - 3 hrs, 219 km - State Highway 1 onto Highway 4

Napier - 3 hrs, 15 250 km - State Highway 50, SH2 onto State Highway 3

 

Flights to Palmerston North

Auckland - 1 hr 15

Christchurch - 1 hr 15

Dunedin - 2 hrs 45

Queenstown - 3 hrs 1

 

From the airport a bus will take you into the city centre to i-Site. Coaches leave from here to Whanganui for $23 one-way

If you need to stay the night in Palmerston North, the same airport bus goes past Pepper Tree Hostel, 10 mins walk from the i-Site. 

 

Travel Equaliser Fund

We have had a system set up for a few years now, that allows those who have a little extra $ or have a little who live close to the Hui event to help out those coming from afar to aid there travel cost to attend our annual hui. With have added this service to the ticket purchasing to aid this donation. If you like paying things forward, below are the options to choose from.
